Michael Adebayo, a Nigerian singer and composer, goes by the stage name Ruger. His unique voice and strange look, which featured an eyepatch, made him famous in 2021.

Fuji music by singers such as King Wasiu Ayinde (K1 De Ultimate) and R&B by American artists such as Boys II Men have impacted him.

He, like the others on this list, put out songs for fun on social media and ended up on D’Prince’s radar. After proper grooming and recording sessions, he was unveiled to the public, and he hit the ground running.

Ayra Starr

Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibige, a Nigerian singer and composer, goes by the name Ayra Starr.

Unbeknownst to some of her fans, she started her career as a model at the age of 16 before deciding to pursue a career in music.

After recreating a lot of prominent artists’ songs and posting them on her Instagram account, she published her first original song in December 2019.

Don Jazzy, a record executive, saw this and signed her to Mavin Records as a consequence.

Since then, her debut EP, ‘Ayra Starr,’ and later her album, ‘19 & Dangerous,’ have both topped the charts.

Her breakthrough song ‘Away,’ which was posted on YouTube roughly 11 months ago, has accumulated over 5.6 million views so far. In addition, her song ‘Bloody Samaritan,’ which was posted on YouTube four months ago, has over four million views.

Her stage name, Ayra, means honorable and revered, which she is.

Victony

Anthony Victor, best known by his stage as Victony, is a singer and songwriter who has faced a lot in 2021 but has managed to shine through because of his skill.

Victony began his professional musical career in 2017 when he was a rapper. Some of his fans still refer to him as “The Outlaw King” because he made his debut with a SoundCloud mixtape titled “The Outlaw King.”

His breakout year was 2021 when his record “Pray” began to get traction after his companion died in a horrible deadly accident that put him in a wheelchair.

The kicker that cements him as one of 2021’s breakout artists is a flawless duet with Mayorkun on ‘Holy Father.’

Lojay

Lojay, born Lekan Osifeso Jnr., is a Nigerian musician, singer, songwriter, and performer. Lojay began his professional music career in 2016. He published “Ariel” in October of this year.

Following a joint endeavor with Sarz entitled ‘LV N ATTN,’ he rose to fame in early 2021. The project’s lone highlight was Wizkid.

“Tongolo,” “Monalisa,” and “LV N ATTN,” among other songs, were developed as part of the project.

Because his mother is a pastor, he grew up listening to gospel music.

Lojay would go on to find other musical influences, both local and foreign, that would help him build his sound and grow into the multi-talented artist he is today. He’s on a roll, and 2022 appears to be a watershed moment for him.

GodsFavour Chidozie, popularly known as Fave, is a 21-year-old Nigerian singer and songwriter. She promoted herself and shared videos of herself freestyling on social media channels, mostly Twitter, which won her visibility and social media shares.

She began her career in the choir and has already advanced to the point where she can sing hit songs. After appearing on Olamide’s 2021 album, UY Scuti, she began to acquire mainstream attention.

Her song ‘Baby Riddim’ became an online success after going viral on TikTok. The song soon started climbing the charts, finally becoming a certified blockbuster.

Fave is showing to them that, despite the fact that she still has some ground to cover, she can easily make her way up.
